Do your municipal facilities express the unique identity and brand of your community? The City of Batavia recognized the site of their City Hall missed the mark in to visually communicating the unique identity of Batavia derived from the rich culture, history and natural assets of the community. They engaged Laflin Design Group to create an appropriate setting for their City Hall, a historic industrial building constructed of local limestone, that would more clearly communicate the identity of the community and the services housed within the various building entrances. Limestone seat walls and planters and custom windmill blade awnings relate back to the history of the industry once housed in the structure. Materials, signage and the plant materials were all selected to tell the story of Batavia and to reinforce the culture and history with which residents identify. Local artists will be commissioned for custom pieces such as the pedestrian lighting, signage, downspouts and trellises, once again conveying the identity of Batavia.
