Six Flags Hurricane Harbor offers 15 acres of water slides, a wave pool, river attraction, mat racer and interactive play as well as full concessions and locker room facilities. Forged from the parking lot surrounding the theme park, Hurricane Harbor's landscape concept was to transport visitors in northern Illinois to a tropical paradise based loosely on the windswept islands of the Caribbean. Ninety-five live palm trees and 1,650 tons of sand created a tropical paradise. Lush, leafy plant material hardy to the Midwest was used to create the illusion of tropical materials with wide swaths of colorful perennial plant material playing on the terrain of the park.
